Environment: As a lover of traveling, animals and walking through provincial parks and beaches, the environment is very important to me as it should be to all of us. The environment is not only beautiful and gives us fresh air to breathe but it also effects many aspects of our health. At least 24% of conditions and diseases have effects caused by factors of the environment.

Improving air quality would decrease cases of asthma, cardiovascular disease and lung cancer. The current amount of air pollution in Ontario has caused approximately 5800 premature deaths. Therefore, we need to create a Pollution/Cancer Prevention Act which would have companies minimize air-bound toxic substances.

Another issue with the environment that needs to be worked on is the matter of banning unnecessary pesticides. These pesticides cause problems including damage to our reproductive and neurological systems.

---------------------------------

Education: As a university student, I feel the effects of having to pay high tuition amounts. The worst part is that tuition just keeps going up. Also, in high school, some of our courses were less funded than they should have been so the experiences and lessons could have been better. This needs to be fixed.

Therefore, the following steps should be taken.

Provide a certain amount of money per year to cap university and college tuitions at affordable averages per year. If students can afford a good education and become properly educated, technically, the province, and country as a whole, will be paid back for its investment in tuitions via positive labour productivity gains from the newly graduated and employed students.

Other steps include:
~ Increase and improve potential opportunities for those taking part in apprenticeships, arts, agriculture and trades.
~ Increase elementary school funding without reducing funding for secondary schools.
~ Give individual schools voices regarding how certain funding should be spent, every school is different and has different needs.

---------------------------------

Health: Increase the budget for the Ministry of Health Promotion. Our health is effected by our life choices (our diet, exercise, whether we smoke). If the ministry is able to promote positive health and lifestyle choices, the wellness of our people will improve and long-term health effects will be depleted.

We can also improve our health and minimize obesity by increasing our ability to use cycling, walking and rollerblading as our means of transportation. This could be done by implementing more sidewalks and bike lanes in urban areas. Increasing these means of transportation would decrease the amount of vehicles on the road which would reduce the amount of air pollution as well.

---------------------------------

Poverty: The answer to decreasing poverty is as uncomplicated as a two-piece jigsaw puzzle. Increase minimum wage. Many don't realize it but thousands of Canadians are only a single paycheque away from being in the streets.

We also need to reduce ATM/bank withdrawal fees. Within the duration of one year, Canadians have been forced to spend 420 million dollars just to access their own savings.
